BAD TASTE LIMITED EDITION DVD (ANCHOR BAY)
THE MOVIE:A+
The Evil Lord Crump and his alien goon-squad have decended upon Planet Earth in order to reap a fresh supply of human flesh, a new taste treat for their intergalactic fast-food chain. In response the New Zealand goverment calls in an elite team of assasins called the Alien Investigation and Defense Service, to take on the aliens and save the world. Can "The Boys" save the world from becoming a herding ground for humans, you'll have to BAD TASTE!!!!

Bad Taste is director Peter Jackson's (Meet the Feebles, Dead Alive) first film, and what a film it is. Filled with Jackson's signature of mixing gore and comedy Bad Taste is by far my favorite film Jackson has ever made. Jackson himself plays two roles in the movie, and totally steals the show from his amature co-stars. The gore in the film is great, especially considering the budget the movie had (it was financed by Jackson's paperboy job). If your a Jackson fan or a gorehound this is a must for your collection, if not get it anyway (remember it's limited to 50,000 copies) you'll love it!!!

BODY COUNT:
67

DEATHS:A
Shootings, head crushings, arms ripped off, sledghammer to the head, decapatations, slashings, explosions, chainsaw dismemberments, and exploding sheep.

PICTURE:A
Bad Taste is presented in its widescreen format and has been THX mastered and just looks amazing, especially compared to past video and laser disc transfers. Anchor Bay has done a great job restoring this classic. There is some slight grain, but not that much at all. The colors are very vivid and just look great.

SOUND:A
Anchor Bay has done a great job restoring the soundtrack as well on this great dvd. You have an option to listen to the film in Dolby Digital Surround 5.1, 6.1 DTS-ES, or Dolby Surround 2.0. All the tracks sound great with no signs of popping or fuzzing.

EXTRAS:B-
Trailer - We get a trailer for the film that really doesnt give it justice, but its great addition to the disc.
Peter Jackson Bio - We get a great lenghty bio on Jackson, which covers all his older films as well as his upcomming Lord Of The Rings film.
Good Taste Made Bad Taste Documentary(only on the two disc limited edition version) - 25 minute long documentary covering the making of the film, special effects, and Jackson himself (has clips from Jacksons old Super-8 movies). This documentary is great, my only complaint is that I wish it was longer.
Booklet - the DVD also comes with a 12 page booklet that contains some stills from the film and an interview with "The Boys", great addition to the package.

OVERALL:
Anchor Bays has done a great job on this limited edition version of Bad Taste, the only thing really missing is a commentary (Jackson wanted to do one but has been busy on the Lord Of The Rings). Overall though the film has never looked or sounded better, all you fans should be really pleased with this new DVD. If your a fan of Jackson or just a gorehound this DVD is a must for your collection, if not buy it anyway you'll love it.

BLOODSUCKING PHARAOHS IN PITTSBURGH DVD (PROGRAM POWER)
THE MOVIE:A-
A crazy psycho killer is terrorizing the streets of Pittsburgh, removing select body parts from his victims. The only clues point to a bizare Egyptian ritual for the dead. Two deadbeat detectives and there meter maid sidekick track the killer to Egypt Town where they confront deadly ninjas, tasteless cooks, and a beautiful rollerskating waitress, while trying to stop a cannabalistic crazy from turning Pittsburgh into blood soup.

BSFIP is a great cheesy B horror comedy directed by Dean Tschetter. It is full of great chessy comedy and a great cast. Some of the funniest bits dont even have anything to do with the killer, such as one of the detectives wife going to a program called Smoke Stompers to quit smoking and her "personal trainer" beats the crap out of her to get her to quit. The gore is pretty tame even though the effects were done by the great Tom Savani, and allot of the splatter was cut to get an R rating. Overall though I just love this movie its a cheesy B movie at its best and I think you'll love it too.

BODY COUNT:
11

DEATHS:C
Top of head sawwed off, shootings, chainsawings, death by high powered shop vac, jack hammer, face ripping, and the always nessasry decapatation.

PICTURE:B
BSPIP is presented in its fullscreen formatt and looks pretty good. there is some slight grain during a couple scenes, but not very much at all.

SOUND:A+
BSPIP is presented in Ultra Stereo and sounds exellent, I doubt they could have done any better for such a low budget film.

EXTRAS:A+
Commentary - By director Dean Tschetter and producer/star Beverly Penberty. This commentary is great because Dean is pretty upset with the way his film was changed by the producer and he lets her know it by bringing up all the changes that were made and the scenes that were cut, while she just says how great things were. This is definately a pretty intersting commentary.
Interviews - We also get two interviews one with the director and another with the producer. The director talks about how the film came to be and why he is so upset with it to this day (which he shouldnt be in my opinion). In the producers interview she basically talks about her past carrer as an actress and how she got into producing. Both interviews are interseting but the directors is way better, the producer seems to into herself and is pretty boring.
Deleted Scenes - We also get 8 deleted scenes. Three of them just being extended dialogue scenes, and the other five are the cut gore scenes (which arnt really gory at all).
We also get a ton of stills, presskit photos, posters, advertising campaigns, call sheets, the directors original script, and storyboards. But you have to have a DVD Rom drive on your computer to access theese materials.

OVERALL:A+
Program Power has done a great job in there release of BSPIP. With tons of extras, great video and sound they have gave this great film the treatment it deserves. If your a fan of cheesy B movies with lots of laughs and some decent splatter you should definately own this DVD.

THE BONEYARD DVD (PROGRAM POWER)
THE MOVIE:C
Detective Jersey enlists the help of an overweight reclusive psychic named Alley to help him out on an odd case. Three corpses of some children were found in a morticians custody badly decomposed with human remains in their stomachs, and the mortician swears that they are the undead. Soon the bodies are transported to another mortuary ran by Miss Poopinplate (Phyllis Diller)and her mangy poodle, before long the bodies re-animate and they got a bad case of the munchies.

The Boneyard is a decent horror flick but never really delivers. The movie plays like a Return Of The Living Dead ripoff but just doesnt cut it, even though there are some great scenes. There's very little gore, and deaths, but there are some great creature fx that anyone would enjoy. One thing I think holds this movie down is it tries to throw in a bunch of unnessary drama which just slows down the plot, and makes the movie boring. Overall The Boneyard is a decent way to waste a boring night just dont expext to much.

BODY COUNT:
7

DEATHS:D
Theres cannabalisim, shootings, poundings, death by acids, electrocutions, an impalement, and a nice explosion.

PICTURE:B
The Boneyard is presented in its fullscreen format with some slight grain and print damage, but really isnt that bad.

SOUND:A
The sound is loud and clear, no complaints.

EXTRAS:A+
Theatrical Trailer - Contains highlights from the film, but ruins some of its surprises.
Interviews - There are three different interviews on this disc. The first is an interview with star Phyllis Diller which showcases her very annoying laugh. She talks about her expierence on the film and about her long career as a comedian. Next there is an interview with writer director James Cummins who talks about the casting, fx, and the crew. And finally there is an interview with the producer Richard Brophy who talks about how money was raised for the film.
Stills - Theres also a creature effects photo galley with 13 stills
Commentary - With the director and producer which is interesting but is pretty boring at times.
DVD Rom materials - Theres the original screenplay, publicity photos, production crew and cast bios, creature concept drawings, promotional artwork, press kit stills, newspaper clippings, and some thumbnail sketches of ad campaigns.

OVERALL:B-
Program Power has done yet another great job on compiling supplements for this dvd, to bad the movie itself is a let down. Id recommend renting Return Of The Living Dead instead.

BURIAL GROUND VHS (THRILLER VIDEO)
THE MOVIE:B
A young psychotic taxidermist named David steals the body of his dead fiancee and insanely tries to keep it alive by embalming it and keeping it in his house. Assisted by his kinky housekeeper David starts killing anyone who finds out about his dead love.

Buried Alive is Joe D'Amato's best film by far, even though thats not saying much. Its a weird peverted love story filled with tons of gore and an odd atmosphere. The plot is filled with many holes, but overall the story is great. The gore effects are pretty good as well, even though there not as brutal as D'Amato's Anthropophagus, but the movie really outshines Anthropophagus with its weird peverted atmosphere. If your a gorehound or into weird movies this is definately a film for you, check it out.

BODY COUNT:
5

DEATHS:B
Stabbings, eyeball gougings, dismemberment, acid baths, embalming procedures, fingernail rippings, suffocations, and canabalisim.

OVERALL:B
If you like D'Amato films you have to see Buried Alive its by far his best. If your not familiar with his work and your into gore movies check it out anyway, with its weird atmosphere and gory demises you wont be dissapointed.
